The Arctic north of Norway. Remote. Harsh. Beautiful. "You'll love it there - the light is amazing!", said a photographic friend of mine on hearing I had booked a trip to Norway in January 2022. However, her beauty is often protected by clouds and snowstorms - a demure veil hinting at what might be revealed once your presence is accepted and your patience acknowledged. No two points can be driven in a straight line - distances are deceptive. Weather conditions can change by the minute - often with little warning. This is a landscape that cannot be rushed. The images in this book reflect my experience of northern Norway. Her gradual reveal from the gloom of stormy weather to the celebration of her landscape in light and colour. The words accompanying each image attempt to give reason to pause, reflect and engage the viewer with each scene and, perhaps, a sense of the moment and of being there.
