Having moved to east Hertfordshire in 2012, I joined the local photography society - Ware & District - where I was immediately impressed by the standard of amateur photography.  This inspired me to take my own photography more seriously and has led me to pursue various awards and distinctions in a journey of improvement and exploration.

In my membership of Ware & District Photographic Society, I first and foremost try to encourage everyone to enjoy their photography, irrespective of their personal aims or aspirations.  I love seeing the work of others, hearing why they took the image and why they are proud of it - photography is, after all, a personal thing to be enjoyed.

NPhoto Magazine - Photographer of the Year 2019

I entered the image on the left in one of NPhoto magazine's themed rounds in 2019 and was fortunate to win not only the judges vote, but also the readers vote.

Imagine my surprise when, sitting on a Thames Clipper just before Christmas that year going to see a show at the O2, I get an email saying I have won the overall title of 'NPhoto Magazine Photographer of the Year' along with a brand new Nikon Z6 and 24-70mm f4 lens!

It just goes to show, if you don't enter, you can't win.  And, if you do enter, you never know what might happen...
